Morale of Players and Switching of Camps: Issues that Coach Tat Meng Should Seriously Face
Coach Wong Tat Meng will have two major issues to seriously consider in his bid to take the national men’s singles players to the competition.
One is to set the morale of his players especially that of Lee Chong Wei. Two is to ensure that players do not switch camps from the national camp to the clubs. The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) has opened opportunities for allowing club players, including those from Nusa Mahsuri and KLRC, to represent the country in major tournaments. Now, national players have a choice to take a different camp in pursuing their career.
However, besides Chow Wei and Kuan Beng Hong (the worl’s number four), no one else have been heard of switching camps. Nevertheless, Tat Meng hopes that one must be clear in joining a club. He just hopes that someone may not be doing it just for the money.
